At first its prosperity was confined to the 9-multi year mature age gathering, and for movement there is nothing noteworthy about this. We will compose a custom article on The Simpsons explicitly for you for just $16.38 $13.9/page Request now In topographical terms, these changes might be found in the move from national to worldwide media. The Simpsons can be viewed as both a striking bit of worldwide culture and as a massively effective bit of worldwide TV. (One need just look on an Internet web search tool to find that there are truly a great many Simpsons fan-destinations around the globe.). The Simpsons themselves are a basic family in a humble community in Middle America called Springfield. They are: Homer (steadfast however inept dad), Marge (disappointed, caught housewife/mother), Bart (insubordinate child), Lisa (undervalued virtuoso girl), and Maggie (quiet infant). The show additionally spins around various other of the townsfolk, for example, Mr Burns (Homers closefisted chief), Smithers (Burnss cherishing aide), Apu (Indian retailer), Principal Skinner and Moe (proprietor of the neighborhood bar). There are various reasons why we can't just view The Simpsons as an animation like some other. The guidelines and shows that it follows are unmistakably more those of TV or film than those of activity. The diversion inside The Simpsons exists on various levels running from the undeniable to the unpretentious, from the abstract to the film reference, and past. Be that as it may, above all we should consider the demonstrates capacity to offer noteworthy social remark, on general issues of culture and society, yet more explicitly on TV, film and media, and on crowd review and acknowledgment of these media. Generally, kid's shows have been activity driven and liveliness. Beside the utilization of cameras to make the visual hallucination of profundity (Walt Disney broadly clarified the entangled procedure used to permit Mickey Mouse to stroll along a road without twisting profundity or point of view), kid's shows had their very own language, exceptional and separate from that of film or TV. They were straightforward and without layered implications. They had their own shows that were normally utilized and effectively comprehended by kids. These included falling blacksmith's irons, gun balls, explosive and black powder. By and large most circumstances in conventional kid's shows are straightforward and comparative. They depend on an essential connection between the chaser and pursued. For models look no farther than childrens TV and you will see Tom pursue Jerry, Wylie Coyote pursue Roadrunner and Yosemite Sam pursue Bugs Bunny. So what makes The Simpsons not the same as these progressively conventional animation structures? Both the characters in The Simpsons their jobs and circumstances are definitely more perplexing than in conventional activity. To be sure, what are viewed as sub-characters are frequently the bases of stories, as official maker Bill Oakley clarifies: Over eight years weve built up a town brimming with characters?Moe, Mr Burns or Principal Skinner would all be able to give the motors to stories. Makers of The Simpsons state they focus more on contents than on liveliness, making the show more silliness and content based than activity based. Be that as it may, notwithstanding The Simpsons being seen by numerous individuals as a sitcom, Oakley likes to keep the show new, and for the most part dodges sitcom essayists: We need individuals who are not demolished by the standard sitcom structure. One of the most significant factors in clarifying The Simpsonss cross-generational and wide segment advance is the complexity of its composition. It is developed to exist at a wide range of levels. As far as its amusingness, maker Groening says: There are the undeniable jokes, the visual sight chokes, the inconspicuous artistic implications and at the most unpretentious, what we call the freeze outline chokes. While I concur with Groening, I would classify the cleverness marginally in an unexpected way. The main level is glaring satire. This incorporates clear jokes. The intrigue to youngsters that initially proclaimed The Simpsons depends on explicit satire and the shenanigans of Bart, for example, his acclaimed telephone tricks: Bart telephones Moes bar. Moe: Moes Tavern. Bart: Hello, is Al there? Moe: Al? Bart: Yeah, Al. Last name: Coholic. Moe: Lemme check Call for Al. Al Coholic. Is there an Al Coholic here? Hold up a moment.. . Tune in, you cowardly rodent ass, in the event that I ever discover what your identity is, Im going to murder you! This level additionally incorporates different types of barefaced cleverness, for example, juxtaposition, and a large number of the visual sight chokes. It can likewise incorporate the shortsighted utilization of redundancy, for example, catchphrase satire. A considerable lot of the characters have catchphrases which are rehashed at every possible opportunity. The most well known of these are Homers Doh! what's more, Barts Eat my shorts! Other dull jokes are as the initial grouping, of which there are numerous varieties. They are the lines that Bart composes during his confinement and the manner in which the family plunks down before the TV together. The subsequent level alludes to increasingly unobtrusive diversion. This kind of cleverness has represented the extension of enticement to an increasingly grown-up crowd and incorporates a progressively advanced reiteration type joke. For instance: Homer informs Marge concerning a work night out: Marge: So how was the workplace birthday celebration? Homer: Oh, it was de-lightful! The icing on the cake was this thick! What's more, Eugene Fisk (my poor sucker of a right hand) didnt realize the fruit juice was spiked, and he truly made an ass of himself placing the proceeds onward another young lady in valve upkeep. Ha Marge: Does this young lady like him? Homer: Pffft. I need to caution you Marge, I think the poor youthful thing has the hots for Yours Truly! A similar scene hops to a half year later, when Homer is clarifying about a little social gathering with the young men at work. Eugene Fisk is wedding some young lady in valve upkeep. Marge: Mmmhmmm. Eugene Fisk, isnt he your associate? Homer: No! My chief. Marge: Didnt he used to be your associate? Homer: Hey, what is this! The Spanish Exposition? Marge: Sorry, Homer It is far-fetched that more youthful watchers will see or comprehend this kind of diversion. Other progressively unobtrusive jokes remember a portion of the finishes paperwork for avenues and structures, similar to the one on the Springfield Hall of Records that says Not The Go

My Christian Faith Essay Example For Students

My Christian Faith Essay As an energetic admirer of Jesus Christ and experiencing childhood in a family firmly established in Christian convictions, the idea of an alternate point of view on religion appeared to be inconsequential to me. Who wouldn’t have faith in the man who was God in the substance, persevered through colossal torment, and at last gave his life so our wrongdoings would be excused? I would before long discover as my congregation venture assumed me to a position I never figured I would go. At affirmation class one Wednesday evening, my childhood chief educated us we would visit a Jewish gathering place to encounter how others in our locale adore. The idea of entering a spot loaded with individuals dedicated to a religion that was not the same as mine totally baffled me. The transport ride there was loaded with meandering considerations and assumptions of this puzzling spot. We pulled up and the structure was totally wonderful, practically like something that had a place in a magazine. Outside the enormous wooden entryways, which appeared to be double the size of my 6’7† sibling, held up a man with a robe and a little cap covering just the tip of his head. He invited us with a well mannered hi and held the entryway as each wide-peered toward youngster wandered through. To one side and right, bushels were loaded up with those equivalent caps that the man who welcomed us was wearing. We discovered that these caps were called yarmulkes and were normally worn by men, which is a Jewish custom. Each column of the gathering place was fixed with visiting individuals and Torah’s. The administration started with amicable voices and quiet supplications, like how my community gathering starts. All through the administration, the rabbi showed exercises of confidence, favored the assemblage, and now and then communicated in an odd language that I couldn’t very comprehend. Close to the finish of the administration, contributions, called Korbanot, were satisfied and a perusing from The Torah was given. Amidst the administration, I understood that in spite of the fact that their convictions are not quite the same as mine, we as a whole share something for all intents and purpose; we revere a charitable and cherishing God who never bombs us in any event, when we keep on bombing him. After the administration, we as a whole stacked back on the transport and my childhood serve started asking us what we thought or on the off chance that it was what we anticipated. There was a synchronized head shake as the entirety of the children on the transport concurred it was a long way from what we anticipated. I think we additionally conceded to the sentiment of disappointment we had because of how critical we were towards individuals who practice an alternate religion, which is the specific inverse of what God needs us to do. This experience has left me everlastingly changed in the way that I presently see how much more noteworthy confidence is than religion. Consistently we judge the individuals around us due to their mark, religion, or thoughts and how they are not quite the same as our own, however the main thing is our dedication to God. Religion was made dependent on a lot of rules on how you’re expected to act and camouflage yourself to show individuals outwardly, yet God needs to genuinely change what’s within. Everything that individuals accomplish for religion is for sharing time, not concentrating on devoting all that they have to the man who gave everything. I accept this experience really made me fully aware of what tolerating Christ into your life is about.

Bibliophiles assemble!

Bibliophiles assemble! A few weeks ago, I had the best weekend in recent history. Of course, it was CPW and the weather was magnificent. But sometimes the most unexpected details go a long way in raising your spirits. For me, that little detail was the MIT Press Loading Dock Sale. And I lied I KNEW it was going to make me happy. Every semester or so, the MIT Press (located to the Eastern edge of the campus) hosts a legendary Loading Dock Sale where several rooms are lined wall to wall with moderately new books at prices reduced up to 90% off. How could they afford to sell them for such low prices? Apparently, the books are mainly MIT Press overstock, or with minor damage, or out-of-print. But these factors are no deterrents! Students, educators, and other segments of the MIT community crowded room after room, carrying baskets filled to the brim, and accumulating checkout sums of several hundreds. It could get crazy in there and it wasn’t hard to see why. The content range was incredible. From computer science to political science, to architecture, to music, philosophy, linguisticsyou name it. I tried very hard to tame my hoarder instincts. My friend walked away with an impressive coffee table book on the art of Duchamp. But here’s what I ended up with I had to stop myself before it got out of hand, and so I can hurry off to the CPW Activities Midway. Honest Signals is written by MIT Media Lab professor Alex (Sandy) Pentland on the significance of our nuanced ways of interaction. Inventing American History investigates historical events written to serve specific political interests. Designing Media is a collection of interviews with media pioneers, probing media of the future. And lastly, Ai Weiweis Blog is a translated collection of blog entries from the Chinese artist/activist/true-multi-hyphenate. I am still giddy about these purchases this very moment. So If you love books and will be at MIT, this is a quick public service announcement! There should be another one of these events this coming fall. What are you reading these days? Any recommendations?

Literacy, The, And The Literacy - 961 Words

Literacy ethos customarily attests to literature as the capability of writing and reading. The two contexts exist independently in human beings since a person retains literacy internally. On a broader perspective, literacy can mean the aptitude of an individual to utilize the use of symbols systems, which prove essential for teaching and learning. By that, it means that the word extends beyond reading and writing to a broader context of developed technology. However, my experiences push me to incline to writing when defining literacy. The composition course that I undertook has played significant roles in establishing my opinion, which states that the literacy purpose is educating the scholars in a way that offers them an opportunity to interact effectively with the surrounding. The composition classes that I attended advocated the students’ profound examination of the texts formulated by other individuals. It also challenged the students to write their ideas using other people’s creative ways to identify similarities. Doing that means that the scholars obtain a broad exploration of the writing craft. This idea drives me into assessing Birkerts’ model of argumentation and writing. Birkerts says, â€Å"The first step requires at least that the language can reach the reader, and that the word sounds and rhythms come alive ...† (Eposito, par. 2). We will write a custom essay sample on Moderation vs. Extremism or any similar topic only for you Order Now He is able to assess his inherent characteristics, his abilities and skills. The discovery of his potentials will lead him to utilize it in a manner in which he sees fit. The ability to do what he wants in life is attributed to the freedom that he lives. Humans are driven, free, and capable of governing their lives. The need to survive is the challenge that humans continuous to overcome every day. The individual behaves and reacts to the situations and the people around him. He has an idea of what he wants in life and how he should live it to its full potential. Personal reasons such as success or the need for financial resources and a suited career is sometimes included in the reasons why man behaves and reacts towards his surroundings in a certain way. All these reasons contribute to what is essential in life, to be happy. It is such a clichà © for people to talk about happiness in the modern times the society now lives in. The information technology era had brought a perception that man is keen to adapt in a fast-paced and complicated life. The modernism ideology has influenced how people thinks and behaves. This can be mostly associated with the need to be famous, or rich. To further understand how man identifies himself with happiness, Socrates’ definition and view regarding happiness can be used to explain how it is. The Greek word â€Å"ethos† is where the word ethics is derived from. Consequently, the word also is defined as â€Å"habit†.(Beebe, 2003) Socrates is one of the several philosophers who explored the definition of habit and character that one must cultivate in order to live. On a greater scale, how should man be and become in this life. Socrates believed that one should settle the definition of ethical character as a manifestation of its morality actions.(Beebe, 2003) As an example, when a child discovers his father killed someone, and his father is hunted by the F.B.I, when someone ask him, he would automatically refuse to be truthful about the whereabouts of his father. This is considering the facts that the child admires his father very much and can not imagine his father committing the crime. In that situation, should the child be tagged as a liar and dishonest person, considering the person involved in very dear to him and is a very influential person in his life. Should one doubt the ethical character of the child or understand the reason why he had lied. This is the question that Socrates posted on the idea of ethical values. With the definition of ethics comes the idea of virtue. Virtue is also associated to â€Å"excellence† and can be applied in many aspects of our lives. Socrates posted a question, â€Å"when does someone consider his life to be happy?† (Beebe, 2003) Beneath the question is the question connecting the idea of virtue and happiness.   Using the definition of virtue, it questions how man can be of his full potential. What can make his life truly happy? In reality, when one person thinks of happiness, it becomes a subjective view on the person’s life. Socrates on the other hand thinks of happiness as an objective feature of one’s life. Socrates also claimed that â€Å"the most important thing is not life, but the good life†.(Beebe, 2003) This statement comes with the idea that the fulfillment of life is the essence of life itself. Happiness is not just the mere smiles and the happy feeling attributed to it, but when everything is wrong, one lives and overcomes it. This is exercised by the ethical and virtuous persons. They consider more of the quality of their lives rather than just the length and living simply the life they ought to live. Understanding Socrates definition of ethics and virtue, rather than the pursuit of wealth, reputation, prestige and others, one must focus on aspiring to be ethical and virtuous more than anything else. Because these two ideas generates happiness, is a factor of happiness and creates the life with moral quality. Virtue and happiness is both necessary and sufficient to be able to be happy. Being virtuous is necessary to become happy. The idea of living a virtuous life is fulfilling the excellent kind of life a person can fulfill. This is disregarding the material aspirations of one’s life, in return, one gains the ideals of honesty, fairness, and bravery that contributes to the quality of life one lives. These attributes may not give enough material possessions but the morale and quality of life is the result of living the virtuous life. In Socrates famous saying, â€Å"The unexamined life is worth not living†.(Beebe, 2003) To this saying we pose the idea of wisdom and the pursuit of knowledge and reason. Virtuous living is having the gift of rationality and the capacity to think critically. The discussion of virtue is also important in the pursuit of happiness. Virtuosity also comes with work. Being virtuous is a process and a pursuit, and together with work, one can achieve happiness. We can therefore say that according to Socrates, one can not be happy without being virtuous, and one can not be virtuous without being wise. BEEBE, J. R. Personal Strategic Plan free essay sample

My long term personal mission in my career is to own and run a hugely successful eighteen-hole PGA certified golf course. I envision my shorter term career goals as being stepping stones to this. Being financially comfortable and secure, eventually having enough capital to invest in a business is a major focus of mine. Honing my skills as a golfer and a golf professional to the master level will serve me well in making business connections. Finally, acquiring business acumen by studying and learning from the professionals in my life already will give me what I need for running a business. By focusing on these short term goals, I can be confident in my ability to fulfill my core mission. I have many qualities that make me attractive to potential employers. Being a reliable and quality worker is evident in my work history; I have worked at the same organization since I was sixteen, and have carried part time jobs at other organizations. We will write a custom essay sample on Personal Strategic Plan or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page I present myself professionally and have the social skills to make good relationships with customers, clients, coworkers, and anyone else relevant to my job. I have great passion for the game, which will serve me well in my career. This passion extends pass the love of the game and into my life as a golf professional, driving me to work my hardest while learning and understanding everything there is to know about the golfing world. I breath, eat, and sweat golf – I cannot envision my life without it. I believe this passion to be my greatest competitive advantage. All I need are the practical tools to make my dreams a reality. I am willing to work endlessly to achieve this. Though it may my greatest strength, passion is far from the only strength I can identify. I have an entrepreneurial spirit, always willing to try new things and ways of making money. Ever since I was a kid I have always loved the idea of running a business, and concepts in the business world come easily to me. I have a great ability to adapt to situations and make the best of them. I realize that not every venture I take will turn out well, so being able to make the best out of a bad situation will be a useful strength. I am a people person and love talking to others on a personal level. Given the often huge social aspect of the average golf course or country club, this will better enable me to connect with clients and forge new relationships. I won’t be able to utilize any of these strengths without first understanding and overcoming my weaknesses. I am not a very introspective person, so actually thinking about and writing down my strengths and weaknesses does not come naturally to me. I can combat this by enlisting the help of those around me in identifying these types of things and through them hopefully come to understand myself more completely. Another weakness I can identify is my lack of experience and knowledge of the business world. I have been combating this throughout my personal and academic career – learning as much as a can and getting as much experience at work as possible. 3. Strategic Choices The opportunities I have had and will continue to have are enormous. I was lucky enough to start working at the Elk’s Country Club when I was sixteen years old. Starting as a simple clerk, I did stuff like caddying and cleaning, generally helping to run the pro shop at the club. I have worked my way up – now I manage the pro shop and am a certified golf professional. My place of employment has given me the opportunity to grow as a golfer and as a professional, and will continue to do so in the future. Through my close personal relationship with the current owner, I can certainly envision a future where the business could be passed along to me. Possible threats to my dreams are things I will take careful note of. For instance, if I were to try and open a golf course, the market could be a major threat. With three golf courses in the area already, the market may be spread to thin for a fourth one. I would most likely have to relocate from my hometown in order to do so. Another threat I face is my personal health. I have always had medical problems with my heart and ears and if they escalated it could put my career and life on hold. I exercise daily and try to eat a healthy diet to help mitigate this threat. Should the day ever come that I am offered the business I currently am employed at, taking it or not would be a huge strategic choice. The Elk’s is an established business that already has a client base. The course is well distinguished and hosts many tournaments. My only hesitation would be the potential for growth in an area like Richmond. To be phenomenally successful you have to have a large market to work with, and I am not so sure Richmond can provide that. Another strategic choice I may face is whether to focus more on my skills as a golfer or as a businessman. Being successful at either one can lead to owning a golf course. A respected golf master would have no trouble opening up a course, especially with all the prize money they would have won over their time. The same thing goes with a respected businessman. Right now, it is easy for me to straddle both worlds, but the day may come when I will have to make a choice. After attaining a degree in business studies, my career options will grow. Within the next five years, I can see two attractive options available: With my job experience and my golf professional certification, I could easily move to another area and work at a different golf course. With my versatile set of skills on and off the course, I could get higher lever position in the pro shop or in the business office starting out. Having researched other jobs, I know I would likely make more money. Being able to leave and try something new and be somewhere new is a definite advantage as well. However, moving away is a big risk in general. I would be leaving my home and family along with my usual support systems. Fear of the unknown is a big disadvantage. I could also stay at my current position, managing the Elk’s Pro Shop. After attaining my degree, I could get a raise or a promotion. This option would be safer as I am already established in this town and know I have a job for the foreseeable future. 4. Implementation 1 Yr – Finish Business Studies Degree. Requires commitment and hard work for classes. Resources needed are money for school costs and time. Move Away 1. 5 Yrs – Find and land new position. Requires time and money to research and visit potential areas and golf courses to move to. I will need all my skills as a golfer and business professional to acquire the best position available to me. 2 Yrs – Settle in new area and gain experience in new position. Requires money and time, as well as professional skills and golf skills. 3 Yrs – Move up in organization and gain new skills to possibly open my own course. Save money. Requires business skill, openness to learning and growing. Also requires frugality and good financial planning. 5 Yrs – Evaluate current position. If I cannot or do not want to go any higher in the organization, strongly consider trying to open or buy another golf course. Will require a huge source of capital – some personal savings and loans could provide this. Also will require massive amounts of time and energy to complete. This could take a few years. Stay At Current Position 1. 5 Yrs – Attain a promotion or raise because of my degree. Requires time and business skill, but little resources. If comfortable, from here on continue to gain know industry knowledge and experience at position. Continue as far up the organizational ladder as possible. If a great opportunity comes along or in uncomfortable, reevaluate. Over 5 Yrs – Take over ownership of the Elk’s Country Club. Requires personal social skills, business skills, and golf skills. Will need plenty of time and patience. Implementing my plan seems to be a gargantuan task, but by breaking it down into smaller goals like I have, I can more easily wrap my head around it. The financial aspect is something I have been working on since I was a teenager. I will continue to manage the pro shop I work at while acquiring pay raises and saving money for my future. Working at a pro shop lends itself very well to honing my skills. I can golf for free anytime I’d like, and take advantage of that often. Everyday I am constantly gaining experience and learning new things about the business, which helps toward becoming a successful professional. Not only can I learn from my job and the other professionals that work there, but I have been pursuing a degree in business studies and am very close to acquiring it.

Free Essays on Wordsworth Free Essays on Wordsworth Wordsworth’s Nature In most of Wordsworth’s poetry he seemed to try and make the reader aware of their environment, of their dependence on it for health, sanity and ultimate happiness. He wanted to nature to confirm that love, joy and beauty were not just fragile human values but cosmic absolutes. Often Wordsworth used unique methods of sensory perception as well as combining the physical world with nature on a more personal, subjective level. Much of his poems use these and other techniques to display the possibility of living contently, looking within nature for inspiration and fulfillment. Wordsworth’s poem Animal Tranquility and Decay, which he wrote in 1798, merely twenty-eight years into his existence, displays his early realization of such perceptions. This poem uses a oblivious man walking as a subject to demonstrate the possibility of absolute happiness outside of physical pain. Animal Tranquility and Decay represents a connection between nature, as the physical world, a nd how we live (or the subject of the poem in this case) as a result of it. Wordsworth begins the poem with an simple image. A useful technique to introduce the physical setting of the poem. The little hedgerow birds, That peck along the roads, regard him not. He travels on, and in his face, his step, His gait, is one expression: every limb, The image of this man walking and the birds not paying him any mind, not caring about his presence, is very effective in beginning to create the character’s personality. This is not unlikely for Wordsworth to develop the personality of the characters in his poems with a minimal amount of words and although it is not always possible to decipher whether or not this is intentional, it is none the less effective in turning the poem into something more personal for the reader. Even Wordsworth’s word ch... Free Essays on Wordsworth In â€Å"The World is Too Much with Us,† William Wordsworth presents a conflict between nature and humanity. He repeats the title in the first line of the poem, emphasizing his main point that the aspects of everyday living numb us to the emotions evoked by nature. Wordsworth includes himself in his conviction of mankind, using â€Å"us† rather than â€Å"you.† Something that is â€Å"too much,† is in excess, and therefore tends to cause harm, like the world for us. The harm that Wordsworth discusses includes â€Å"wasting our powers.† Obviously he does not see us as incapable, by describing our abilities as â€Å"powers.† He feels that we waste our passions on â€Å"getting and spending† and neglect to notice how nature is being sacrificed for this progress. We have exchanged our hearts for the materialistic progress of mankind. Not only does an artificial system cause an emotional deficit, but it also alienates people from each other in a very subtle fashion. Wordsworth saw this in the people who give their hearts away, which he equates with a â€Å"sordid boon.† Unlike society, Wordsworth does not see nature as a commodity. The verse, â€Å"Little we see in Nature that is ours,† shows that coexisting is the relationship envisioned. Nature is given human traits to convey a more personal relationship to people. The verse, â€Å"This Sea that bares her bosom to the moon,† gives the image of a woman exposed to the heavens. Wordsworth does not see this as shameful but rather honorable. Like the Sea, he wants people to open themselves up to the passions around them; but instead, we are indifferent to the pleas from nature: â€Å"it moves us not.† He describes us as â€Å"out of tune,† which means that we are not completely doomed, that there is hope to be reconciled with nature. Free Essays on Wordsworth Romantic Poets William Wordsworth writes in his â€Å"Preface to Lyrical Ballads† that â€Å"if the views, with which they [the poems] were composed, were indeed realized, a class of poetry would be produced, well adapted to interest mankind permanently, and not unimportant in the multiplicity and in the quality of its moral relation† (mallor & matlock 574). It has been over two hundred years since Wordsworth penned these lines and yet they have not been lost nor have they been forgotten. The face of poetry has changed since the time of Wordsworth, although mankind’s unwavering fascination with poetry is a testament to its eternal magnetism. In his â€Å"Preface,† Wordsworth defines his poetry and his motivation fastidiously and when comparing the theory to the practice in the case of â€Å"I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud,† the reader cannot help but notice his strict adherence. In fact, because the poem is written as a first person narrative, and Wordsworth is the subject of his poem, he is writing about how he thinks, thus it is the very essence of theory in practice. Wordsworth asserts that : Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility: the emotion is contemplated till by a series of reaction the tranquility gradually disappears, and an emotion, similar to that which was before the subject of contemplation, is gradually produced and does itself actually exist in the mind (580). This explanation is exemplified in his poem, â€Å"I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud.† A lonely poet wanders through the country and is met with a â€Å"host† of daffodils. The tranquil scene affects him passively at first as he attempts to take in the scene, then later after returning home he contemplates his experience. After some contemplation, the poet realizes what â€Å"wealth this show has brought† (line 18). When the image is recollected during ... Free Essays on Wordsworth William Wordsworth William Wordsworth was, in my eyes one of the best know romanticist writers of his time. Most of his pieces talk about nature and religion. He, like most romantic poets of his time revolted against the industrial revolution and wrote many pieces about nature in order to go up against it. During the industrial revolution there were many factories being built up that took away most of the open countryside that everyone enjoyed. In these factories, workers were given long hours and little pay for their harsh working conditions. Wordsworth saw this and was appalled at how the factories could first come and take over the land and hire workers for practically no pay and long hours, so he wrote about nature to rebel against the factories. He wrote these poems to let people escape the reality of their lives and have something that was positive to live for. Wordsworth is considered a romantic because his writings were very imaginative, emotional, and visionary. He regularly discussed poetry with his friend Samuel Coleridge, who at the time was also a romantic writer. In their time as friends they wrote and discussed many poems, which later led to the writing of a prelude for his wife whom he had four children with. Originally Wordsworth was from England and was born in 1770 and graduated from Cambridge University. After he graduated he began his work on the idiom of the eighteenth century, which rebelled against the industrial revolution. Dorothy Wordsworth, William’s sister wrote a journal that her and her brother could read when he cared for her during the last twenty years of her life. Her works were not published for many years after she had died. Most of her writing was written without correct punctuation due to the fact that it would only be her and her brother that would be reading her writings. After his sister Dorothy died later on due to physical ailments which later drove her to insanity. ...

Procurement - Assignment Example erefore, the outdoor sports stores REI might try to use certain strategies at the time of selecting the sources of supply, suppliers, market place and competition. Sources of supply: in order to satisfy the changing needs of the individual, maximum extent of the entrepreneurs of outdoor sport stores REI try to offer best products. Only then, the level of satisfaction rate of the customers might get enhanced thereby amplifying the rate of dominance in the market. However, in order to do so, the entrepreneurs desire to analyze the psychology and perception of the customers through vivid market research and competitor orientation policy. After doing so, the sources of supply are determined by the entrepreneurs of outdoor sports stores REI’s, in order to attract a wide range of customers towards it and to retain them for longer period of time among others (Drummond & Ensor, 2006). Not only this, by market research and customer orientation, the risk of switch over costs might be reduced that may prove extremely effective for the organization in the market among other rival players. Suppliers- as per contracting policy, the suppliers might be selected after signing the document of placing the orders exactly in time and also with exact materials. If the specified time period gets delayed then, the entire order of products might get cancelled along with the contractual document as well. Then, the suppliers may not be offered any sort of orders that might hamper the entire productivity and profitability of the organization. So, the suppliers are selected extremely consciously in order to retain them for longer period of time (Christensen, 2003). Market places- the market places are selected on the basis of the geographical distribution of the area. This is because, if the range of buyers is high, then the rate of sale might also be increased thereby amplifying its total profit margin as well. Similarly, if numerous mass markets, super markets or hyper markets are

Belinda is viewed as the most glamorous character ever created in the history of Continental Literature. Being the lover of art, I also appreciate the paintings created by Degas related to the bath and toilette, where he has skillfully drawn every crease of the body while drawing the sketch of the woman after bath. The color combination of the landscape is very close to natural beauty. The picture also reveals deep observation of this proficient artist, who has included everything that essential in a fashionable toilette of the ladies belonging to elite stratum of socie ty. Application of 2nd Law of Thermodynamics

Another industry related to the second law of thermodynamics is the air-conditioner. As the weather in this country, Malaysia is always hot and humid, air-conditioners are used to cool down the surrounding inside the house. In fact, the concept of air-conditioner is one of the applications of the second law of thermodynamics which stated that for any process occurring in a closed system, the entropy increases for an irreversible system and remains constant for a reversible system, but never decreases. An air-conditioner functioned by using a working fluid to transfer heat from the colder indoor air to the hotter outside air. So the indoor air will be cooled down to a favorable temperature for indoor activities. Second law of thermodynamics defines as the  entropy of an isolated system never decreases due to isolated systems spontaneously evolve towards  thermodynamics equilibrium. Air conditioners apply it during its function. Air conditioners are made up of three main components which are evaporator, condenser and compressor.Evaporator located inside used to transfer heat from the indoor atmosphere to the working fluid. Condenser located outdoor will transfer heat from the working fluid to atmosphere outside and lastly compressor do works on the working fluid and provide additional thermal energy so that the total entropy of the system do not reduced. From the diagram above, it is clear to show how second law of thermodynamics apply on the process of air conditioners. At first, the working fluid arrives at the evaporator as a  warm and high pressure liquid and it passes through a constrictor which causes a large drop in pressure. It thus enters the evaporator as a  warm and low pressure liquid. Because of the low pressure, the working fluid changes its state from liquid to become a gas. Breaking the bonds between the particles requires some thermal energy. Therefore, the working fluid which is in gaseous state becomes quite cold which its temperature les s than indoor temperature. Then, heat begins to flow in from the room air with the help of the metal fins that decorates the evaporator. Next, the working fluid leaves the evaporator as a  cool and low pressure gas.It absorbed a lot of thermal energy from the inside air, leaving evaporator stay in low temperature. The compressor receives the low pressure gaseous working fluid, compresses it to a much higher density and sends it to the condenser. Then, the additional energy the working fluid get from the compressor is stored as thermal energy. Thus, the high pressure working fluid enters the condenser at a much higher temperature. Same with the evaporator, the condenser is decorated with metal fins. These fins help heat to flow from the hot working fluid to the outside air which has lower in temperature. Finally, the working fluid cools and condenses to a warm and high pressure liquid while the temperature atmosphere outside getting higher. To sum up, the second law of thermodynamic s indeed brings some impacts to this world in industrial aspects such as heat engines, internal combustion engines and air-conditioner. In fact, this law is also being researched for more usage in our future life.

I Am a Cultural Leader - 816 Words

In today’s society, when you pursue the path of cultural leadership, success is all about growing others, making people smarter, bigger, and bolder in every aspect of their lives.
